«The Saint Petersburg Ballet is renowned for its exceptional standard of performance, stunning costumes and sets, and the vibrant energy of its young, passionate dancers. The company regularly performs at leading theaters and concert venues in Saint Petersburg and maintains an active touring schedule across Russia, Europe, and China, with an extensive geography of guest performances.
The Saint Petersburg Ballet was founded in 2011 by director Maxim Zhuchin with the goal of introducing ballet enthusiasts around the world to the rising stars of classical dance. The legendary choreographer Nikolai Boyarchikov — People's Artist of Russia, Professor at the Saint Petersburg Conservatory, and laureate of the State Prize and the Golden Spotlight Award — played a formative role in shaping the company. Today, the troupe performs regularly on the stages of the Hermitage Theatre, the Alexandrinsky Theatre, the Bolshoi Drama Theatre (BDT), and other celebrated venues in Saint Petersburg.
The company's repertoire includes the classical productions The Nutcracker, The Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, Giselle, Chopiniana, and Carmen Suite. In addition, the Saint Petersburg Ballet produces contemporary works by young choreographers such as Konstantin Keikhel and other laureates of international festivals and competitions.
Among the troupe's leading soloists are Elena Kotsyubira — an elegant, graceful, and deeply expressive ballerina and star of the Mikhailovsky Theatre — and Larisa Korsakova of the Yekaterinburg Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre, a dynamic and technically accomplished dancer known for her distinctive artistry.
The Saint Petersburg Ballet maintains an ongoing partnership with the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet and other choreographic schools, providing the most talented students and graduates with valuable stage experience.
The company's productions feature leading soloists from the Mariinsky Theatre, the Mikhailovsky Theatre, the Yakobson Ballet Theatre, the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Theatre, and the Bolshoi Theatre, including Tatiana Tkachenko, Maria Ilyushkina, Renata Shakirova, Ivan Askorbin, Fuad Mamedov, Antonina Chapkina, Boris Zhurilov, Veronika Markova, Roman Malyshev, Natalia Tarasova, Vsevolod Mayevsky, Denis Klimuk, Elena Chernova, Astghik Oganesyan, Vladislav Khodasevich, and Sergei Krylov. This gives audiences the opportunity to experience the artistry of ballet stars from Saint Petersburg, Moscow, and abroad.
The company's Artistic Director is Elena Kotsyubira, a laureate of international competitions and a graduate of the renowned Perm Choreographic School (class of L. P. Sakharova). After many years performing with leading theaters and gaining extensive experience under the guidance of great ballet masters, she took on the role of Artistic Director.
The company's General Director is Dmitry Khotko.
